Diagnostic tools are key to guiding patient management and informing public health policies to control infectious diseases. However, many diseases still do not have effective diagnostics and much of the global population faces restricted access to reliable, affordable testing. This limitation underscores the urgent need for innovation to enhance diagnostic availability and effectiveness.

Article Synopsis
  • Medical students are under a lot of stress and mental health issues, and this study looked into how self-determination theory (SDT) could boost their motivation and decrease stress during learning.
  • The study involved a week-long psychiatry course where one group of students experienced a new teaching style focused on autonomy and positive reinforcement, compared to a traditional approach.
  • Results showed that the innovative method increased intrinsic motivation and perceived autonomy while reducing stress, though it also led to lower exam scores due to the lack of critical feedback.

Article Synopsis
  • The Letter reports the most accurate measurement so far of the matter-antimatter imbalance during Pb-Pb collisions at a high energy level of 5.02 TeV.
  • It utilizes the Statistical Hadronization framework to determine precise values for the electric charge and baryon chemical potentials, μ_{Q} and μ_{B}.
  • The analysis of antiparticle-to-particle yield ratios shows that the collisions create a system that is generally baryon-free and electrically neutral at midrapidity.

Purpose: Polymicrogyria (PMG) is a cortical malformation frequently associated with epilepsy. Our aim was to investigate the frequency and conspicuity of enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS) underneath dysplastic cortex as a potentially underrecognized feature of PMG in pediatric and adolescent patients undergoing clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: We analyzed data from 28 pediatric and adolescent patients with PMG and a matched control group, ranging in age from 2 days to 21 years, who underwent MRI at 1.

The ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high p_{T}) hadron trigger in proton-proton and central Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV. A data-driven statistical method is used to mitigate the large uncorrelated background in central Pb-Pb collisions.
