Outcomes of a Career Development Program for Underrepresented Minority Investigators in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group.

We surveyed awardees of the Minority HIV Investigator Mentoring Program (MHIMP) of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group. Most reported clinical specialization in infectious diseases or HIV medicine (86%), and all but 1 (95%) are engaged in medical/health sciences research. The MHIMP helped retain early-career minority investigators in HIV/AIDS-related research.

Electronic Structures of Small (RuO) (n = 1-4) Nanoclusters and Their Anions and the Hydrolysis Reactions with Water.

Group 8 (RuO) (n = 1-4) nanoclusters, their anions, and the hydrolysis reactions of the neutral clusters have been studied with the density functional theory (DFT) as well as coupled cluster CCSD(T) theory. The ground state is predicted to be a singlet and a doublet for the neutral RuO clusters and anionic clusters, respectively. The CCSD(T) method is required to predict the correct ground state.

The European Virus Archive: a new resource for virology research.

The European Virus Archive (EVA) was conceived as a direct response to the need for a coordinated and readily accessible collection of viruses that could be made available to academia, public health organisations and industry, initially within Europe, but ultimately throughout the world. Although scientists worldwide have accumulated virus collections since the early twentieth century, the quality of the collections and the viruses collected may vary according to the personal interests and agenda of the scientists. Moreover, when laboratories are re-organised or closed, collections are no longer maintained and gradually cease to exist.

The control motive and marital violence.

The role of the control motive in marital violence is examined using data on current and former marriages from the Survey of Violence and Threats of Violence Against Women and Men. The findings indicate no support for the position that husbands engage in more marital violence than wives because they are more controlling. In former marriages, we observe statistical interactions between gender and control: former husbands who were controlling or jealous were particularly likely to be verbally aggressive and to engage in violence.
