Background: Micra™ VR Transcatheter Pacing System (Micra VR) is a single-chamber transcatheter leadless pacemaker. Absence of leads and subcutaneous pocket reduces or completely eliminates the risk of complications associated with the conventional transvenous pacemakers (TVPM). When compared with TVPM, the leadless technology provides a quicker postimplantation recovery and causes less cosmetic concerns/discomfort providing better patient experiences in the long run.

In May and June of 2021, marine microbial samples were collected for DNA sequencing in East Sound, WA, USA every 4 hours for 22 days. This high temporal resolution sampling effort captured the last 3 days of a Rhizosolenia sp. bloom, the initiation and complete bloom cycle of Chaetoceros socialis (8 days), and the following bacterial bloom (2 days).

Article Synopsis
  • Data-independent acquisition (DIA) mass spectrometry is gaining popularity in quantitative proteomics due to its effectiveness in data analysis.
  • Creating reliable spectral libraries for DIA is challenging, as most current libraries come from data-dependent acquisition (DDA) data or predictions based on DDA.
  • The study introduces Carafe, a tool that generates specific spectral libraries by using deep learning directly on DIA data, showing better performance in predicting ion intensity and detecting peptides compared to existing DDA models.

Background: Endothelial glycocalyx (EG) degradation occurs in septic humans and EG products can be used as biomarkers of endothelial injury. Information about EG biomarkers and their association with disease severity is lacking in hospitalized foals.

Objectives: Measure serum syndecan-1 (SDC-1), heparan sulfate (HS), angiopoietin-2 (ANG-2), aldosterone (ALD), and plasma atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) concentrations and to determine their association with disease severity and death in hospitalized foals.
