This study evaluated the effect of solutions containing aminomethacrylate copolymer (AA) and sodium fluoride (F; 225 ppm F) or fluoride plus stannous chloride (FSn; 225 ppm F, 800 ppm Sn) against enamel and dentin erosion/abrasion. Solutions F, FSn, AA, F+AA, FSn+AA, and deionized water as negative control were tested. Bovine enamel and dentin specimens (n = 13/solution/substrate) underwent a set of erosion-abrasion cycles (0.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of therapeutic hypothermia on maternal and perinatal outcomes in newborns with Apgar score<7 at the 5th min.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was carried out with 55 newborns who had an Apgar score<7 at the 5th min (35 without and 20 with therapeutic hypothermia) from low-risk pregnancies between 33 and 41 weeks gestation. The Apgar score was calculated through an objective assessment by a neonatologist in the delivery room.

Article Synopsis
  • Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) has been spreading variably across Brazil, and its impact in São José do Rio Preto (SJdRP) is studied to understand the low incidence of reported cases, despite the potential for underdiagnosis due to overlapping symptoms with other viruses like dengue.
  • A study involving 341 asymptomatic individuals over four years showed an increase in anti-CHIKV IgG seroconversion from 0.35% to 2.3%, and 4.4% of dengue-suspected individuals tested positive for anti-CHIKV IgM during a 2019 outbreak.
  • Genomic analysis confirmed the presence of the ECSA genotype of CHIKV in SJd

A 6-year-old, female neutered Labrador retriever was presented with a chronic history of vomiting and anorexia. Abdominal ultrasound identified two large cavitated structures with echogenic content in the gastric fundus and pyloric region. CT revealed the intraparietal nature of these structures, one in the greater curvature and another one extending from the lesser curvature to the pyloric antrum.

Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome is an autoimmune disease characterized by thrombosis and/or pregnancy morbidity in association with circulating antiphospholipid antibodies, mainly anti-β2 glycoprotein 1 antibodies (anti-β2-GPI antibodies). Previous studies demonstrated that the signaling pathway may involve lipid rafts, plasma membrane microdomains enriched in glycosphingolipid and cholesterol. In this study, we analyzed the signaling pathway of LRP8/ApoER2, a putative receptor of anti-β2-GPI antibodies, through lipid rafts in human endothelial cells.
