Ocular inflammation imposes a high medical burden on patients and substantial costs on the health-care systems that mange these often chronic and debilitating diseases. Many clinical phenotypes are recognized and classifying the severity of inflammation in an eye with uveitis is an ongoing challenge. With the widespread application of optical coherence tomography in the clinic has come the impetus for more robust methods to compare disease between different patients and different treatment centers.

A simple coprecipitation method was developed for the determination of tetracyclines (TCs) in surface water and milk by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection (HPLC-DAD). Magnesium ion was added into the surface water or the acetonitrile (MeCN) extract of milk. After alkalinization, magnesium hydroxide precipitates which had been formed can be separated from the matrix solution easily by centrifuging and then a dissolution step was performed by adding a small amount of acid.

A survey was conducted to understand larval habitats and density of dengue vectors in Chungho city during the period of August 12 to September 13, 1996. Most villages (41 in the total of 93) were found to have the density figures of three for Aedes albopictus Skuse. The second common density figures were found at 2nd and 4th levels.

An improved synthesis of the hindered PEG-camptothecin diester transport form has been achieved using the Mukaiyama reagent. We have also assessed the effect of changing the electronic configuration of the (d-position of PEG-camptothecin transport forms on the rates of hydrolysis of the pro-moiety, and attempted to correlate these differences to efficacy in two animal models. In addition to the simple substitution of N for O, other synthetic modifications of these atoms were accomplished by employing heterobifunctional linker groups.
