The advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has changed the natural history of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and the transformation from the chronic phase to the blast phase (BP) is currently an uncommon situation. However, it is one of the major remaining challenges in the management of this disease, as it is associated with dismal outcomes. We report the case of a 63-year-old woman with a history of CML with poor response to imatinib who progressed to myeloid BP-CML, driven by the acquisition of t(8;21)(q22;q22)/.

In this work, we explored the inhibitory potential on SARS-CoV-2 replication of Polypurine Reverse Hoogsteen Hairpins (PPRHs), CC1-PPRH, and CC3-PPRH, targeting specific polypyrimidine sequences within the replicase and Spike regions, respectively, and previously validated for COVID-19 diagnosis.

Characterization of brain transduction capability of a BBB-penetrant AAV vector in mice, rats and macaques reveals differences in expression profiles.

Different screening methods are being developed to generate adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV) with the ability to bypass the blood-brain barrier (BBB) upon intravenous administration. Recently, the AAV9P31 stood out as the most efficient version among a library of peptide-displaying capsids selected in C57BL/6 mice using RNA-driven biopanning. In this work we have characterized in detail its biodistribution in different mouse strains (C57BL/6 and Balb/c), as well as in Sprague Dawley rats and non-human primates (Macaca fascicularis).
