Nucleotide sequence analysis was performed on 14 dengue virus isolates (13 dengue-2 viruses and 1 dengue-3 virus) recovered from febrile soldiers in Somalia in 1993. The dengue-2 viruses were most closely related to dengue-2 virus recovered in Somalia in 1984. However, differences in nucleotide sequence (0.

Estradiol (E2) facilitates the lordosis reflex that occurs in response to flank stimulation in female rats. Lordosis appears to be regulated in part by the synthesis of proteins in the ventral medial hypothalamus (VMH) that are transported to the midbrain central gray (MCG). We developed a strategy involving microinfusion of radioactive amino acids, followed by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis, to identify proteins that may be regulated by E2 in the VMH and transported to the MCG.

Human high-density lipoprotein class-3 (HDL3) was incubated with freshly isolated blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) at 37 and 4 degrees C. At both temperatures the release of proteolytic activity (PA) causing the specific hydrolysis of apo-A-II was dependent on the concentration of HDL3 in the medium. At 37 degrees C, the efflux of PA was linear and no saturation was reached up to an HDL3 protein concentration in the medium of 800 micrograms/ml.
