Plants have evolved sophisticated DNA repair mechanisms to cope with the deleterious effects of ultraviolet (UV)-induced DNA damage. Indeed, DNA repair pathways cooperate with epigenetic-related processes to efficiently maintain genome integrity. However, it remains to be deciphered how photodamages are recognized within different chromatin landscapes, especially in compacted genomic regions such as constitutive heterochromatin.

RNase P is the essential activity that performs the 5' maturation of transfer RNA (tRNA) precursors. Beyond the ancestral form of RNase P containing a ribozyme, protein-only RNase P enzymes termed PRORP were identified in eukaryotes. In human mitochondria, PRORP forms a complex with two protein partners to become functional.

A comparison of different approaches for the analysis of Cl in graphite samples.

This study compares different approaches for the quantification of the massic activity of Cl in graphite samples. All approaches consisted of a combustion step in combination with a trapping solution to collect the volatile elements. Two different resins were used to separate Cl from the matrix (CL resin and PS resin).

A walnut shell biochar-nano zero-valent iron composite membrane for the degradation of carbamazepine via persulfate activation.

In this study, novel walnut shell biochar-nano zero-valent iron nanocomposites (WSBC-nZVI) were synthesized using a combined pyrolysis/reduction process. WSBC-nZVI displayed a high removal efficiency (86 %) for carbamazepine (CBZ) compared with walnut shell biochar (70 %) and nano zero-valent iron (76 %) in the presence of persulfate (PS) (0.5 g/L catalyst, 10 mg/L CBZ, 1 mM persulfate).

Uncertainty due to primary sampling of Rn in analyses of water.

Measurement uncertainty is an important variable, to be accounted for when decisions have to be made based on measurement results. Measurement uncertainty is composed of two main components; one is related to the primary sampling, the other to the sample preparation and the subsequent analysis of the sample. The component related to the sample preparation and the analysis is commonly well evaluated in proficiency testing while there is generally no straightforward similar approach to evaluate sampling uncertainty.
