Spleen-preserving pancreatectomy with removal of splenic vessels: impact on splenic parenchyma ?

Background: While outcomes after spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy (SP-DP) have been widely reported, impacts on splenic parenchyma have not been well studied. This study aimed to compare postoperative outcomes, particularly spleen-related outcomes, by assessing splenic imaging after SP-DP with or without splenic vessels removal.

Methods: Data for all patients who underwent SP-DP with splenic vessels removal (Warshaw technique, WDP) or preservation (Kimura technique, KDP) between 2010 and 2022 in two tertiary centres were retrospectively analysed.

Background: Extrahepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO) results in severe portal hypertension (PHT) leading to severely compromised quality of life. Often, pharmacological and endoscopic management is unable to solve this problem. Restoring hepatic portal flow using meso-Rex bypass (MRB) may solve it.

Conformational study of three endothelin antagonists with 1H NMR at low temperature and molecular dynamics.

The conformations of three endothelin antagonists, a cyclic pentapeptide, a linear tripeptide and a linear hexapeptide, are compared by 1H NMR and molecular dynamics. The three analogues have a Leu and a DTrp side chain which are oriented parallel, and an acidic group next to the DTrp residue.
