Introduction: Precancerous conditions for esophageal (EA) and gastric adenocarcinoma (GA) are Barrett's esophagus (BE) and atrophic gastritis (AG), respectively. Their surveillance is crucial for the detection of early lesions.

Objectives: The study aimed to assess whether one‑timeesophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in search for precancerous conditions would be effective in the population with low‑to‑moderate esophageal and gastric cancer risk.

This essay discusses the concept of discovery, intended as content discovery, and defines it in the new context of Open Science, with a focus on Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Starting from the example of Google Scholar, the authors show that this well established service does not address the current needs, practices, and variety of discovery. Alternatives in terms of technical choices, features, and governance, do however exist, offering richer and more open discovery.

MicroRNA (miRNA) are small, noncoding RNA sequences that post-transcriptionally regulate the proliferation, activity and apoptosis of human gastric cancer cells by controlling various signaling cascades. Processes that involve miRNA molecules can create a specific network of interactions in a cell, and disruption of its functioning may contribute to the transformation of normal cells into cancerous cells. Aims of our survey were: 1) study the relationship between the expression of selected miRNA types (let-7a, miR-106b, miR-29b, miR-21, miR-155, miR-222) in the gastric mucosa and pathomorphological changes determined by classical histopathological methods, 2) perform in silico analysis to select target genes for selected miRNAs and to perform functional analysis of these genes.

Introduction: The diagnosis of atrophic gastritis (AG) and intestinal metaplasia (IM) is a crucial screening and surveillance strategy for gastric adenocarcinoma.

Objectives: The main objective was to assess the performance of endoscopic diagnosis of gastric precancerous conditions in a real‑life scenario.

Patients And Methods: A total of 2099 gastroscopies with biopsy to evaluate gastritis performed in 3 endoscopic centers from March 2018 to October 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.
