Vascular reconstructions in living donor kidney transplantation: a single-center experience over the last 17 years.

Introduction: In living donor kidney transplantation (LDKT), vascular anastomosis is more difficult due to missing arterial patches and shorter renal veins. The surgical challenge is even more demanding in kidneys with multiple arteries. Although renal transplantation is feasible in most cases of complex donor vascular anatomy and similar results compared with standard LDKT are reported, the discussion on potentially increased complication rates and graft function continues.

Background: Transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME), a novel approach for treating low rectal cancer, holds promise. However, concerns exist in certain countries about their oncologic safety due to less-than-optimal outcomes on global studies. This research seeks to evaluate the long-term oncologic outcomes focusing on local recurrence rate and overall survival after TaTME surgery in Germany.

Introduction: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) represents one of the most commonly performed routine abdominal surgeries. Nevertheless, besides bile duct injury, problems caused by lost gallstones represent a heavily underestimated and underreported possible late complication after LC.

Methods: Case report of a Clavien-Dindo IVb complication after supposedly straightforward LC and review of all published case reports on complications from lost gallstones from 2000-2022.
