This article presents a comprehensive study on the impact of irradiation optical fiber cores with a femtosecond-pulsed laser, operating at a wavelength of 1030 nm, on the signal amplitude in Rayleigh scattering-based optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR). The experimental study involves two fibers with significantly different levels of germanium doping: the standard single-mode fiber (SMF-28) and the ultra-high numerical aperture fiber (UHNA7). The research findings reveal distinct characteristics of reflected and scattered light amplitudes as a function of pulse energy.

The majority of the results on modeling recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are obtained using delayed differential equations, which imply continuous time representation. On the other hand, these models must be discrete in time, given their practical implementation in computer systems, requiring their versatile utilization across arbitrary time scales. Hence, the goal of this research is to model and investigate the architecture design of a delayed RNN using delayed differential equations on a time scale.

We examine experimentally the influence of the fiber inelastic twist on polarimetric sensitivity to hydrostatic pressure and pressure sensitivity in a Rayleigh-scattering-based optical frequency-domain reflectometer (OFDR) for highly birefringent side-hole fibers. The fibers were drawn from the same preform with different spin pitches varying from 5 mm to 200 mm. We also demonstrate that the sensitivities of spun fiber can be estimated analytically based on its spin pitch, measured birefringence, and the sensitivity of the corresponding non-twisted fiber, showing good agreement with the experimental results.

Lymphedema and specifically cancer-related lymphedema is not the main focus for both patients and physicians dealing with cancer. Its etiology is an unfortunate complication of cancer treatment. Although lymphedema treatments have gained an appreciable consensus, many practitioners have developed and prefer their own specific protocols and this is especially true for conventional (manual) versus surgical treatments.
