Introduction: Early caregiving interactions and experiences profoundly shape a child's brain development. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently advocated for a public-health approach to promoting safe, stable, nurturing relationships that is "founded on universal primary preventions", including consistent messaging on fostering family resilience, nurturing connections, and positive childhood experiences. Hospitals have unique access to families with children ages 0-5 and therefore play a key role in supporting these early experiences.

Background: For most patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), the clinical course is considered relatively benign, similar to hypertensive heart disease (HHD). We compared the long-term outcomes in patients with HCM versus HHD from a large healthcare system database.
Methods: Data from SSM Virtual Data Warehouse were used to identify patients with a new diagnosis of either HCM or HHD who followed up in our system for at least 6 months.
Emergency contingency plans for the U.S. swine industry, including depopulation protocols, that are essential to limit the spread of sudden outbreaks of infectious diseases is currently lacking.
