Risk of noncommunicable diseases and associated factors in Algerian adolescents (10-19 years old).

Objective: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a public health problem and their prevalence is increasing worldwide at an alarming rate. The objective of this study was to assess the predictive factors for NCDs in adolescents.

Material And Methods: The study included adolescents enrolled in public establishments in Constantine (east of Algeria).

Ramadan Fasting and NCDs-Example of the Diabetes.

Although Ramadan lasts only for 1 month each year, it can be accompanied by significant changes in: both energy and nutritional intake; in the diet composition; in the working hours; and the usual way of life. HLA-E circulating and genetic determinants in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Schizophrenia (SZ) and bipolar disorders (BD) are severe mental illnesses that lack reliable biomarkers to guide diagnosis and management. As immune dysregulation is associated with these disorders, we utilized the immunoregulatory functions of the natural killer cell inhibitory HLA-E locus to investigate the relationships between HLA-E genetic and expression diversities with SZ and BD risk and severity. Four hundred and forty-four patients meeting DSM-IV criteria for SZ (N = 161) or BD (N = 283) were compared to 160 heathy controls (HC).

[Comorbidity schizophrenia and diabetes mellitus in Algeria - A study of risk factors].

Background: The combination of schizophrenia and diabetes mellitus presents a public health problem in the world. Several studies have been carried out for the analysis of this comorbidity, including prognostic factors.

Objective: The objective of our study is to determine the risk factors associated with the comorbidity schizophrenia and diabetes mellitus.

The title complex, [Cu(SO(4))(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O, was obtained under hydro-thermal conditions. The Cu(II) ion is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal manner by four N atoms from two benzene-1,2-diamine ligands at the base and one O atom from a monodentate sulfate anion at the apex of the coordination polyhedron. N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the amino functions and the sulfate groups leads to the formation of layers parallel to (001).
