Introduction: The relationship between food insecurity and access to healthcare in low-resource settings remains unclear. Some studies find that food insecurity is a barrier to accessing care, while others report that food insecurity is associated with a greater need for care, leading to more care utilisation. We use data from the Harambee study in western Kenya to assess the association between food insecurity and difficulty accessing care among people living with HIV (PLWH) with or without comorbid non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) affects millions of individuals worldwide and is a well-documented risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) disease and chronic kidney disease, both of which are leading causes of mortality. Racial and ethnic minority groups in the US, including but not limited to Hispanic/Latino, non-Hispanic Black, and Southeast Asian individuals, are disproportionately burdened by both T2D and its adverse outcomes. In recent years, there have been numerous cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) on novel antidiabetic therapies, including the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RAs), and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors.

Concurrent sarcoidosis and metastatic lung cancer in a patient with ring-enhancing brain lesions.

This case discusses a male in his 40s with no prior medical history who presented to the emergency room with headaches and blurred vision and was found to have ring-enhancing lesions on brain MRI. Chest imaging revealed bilateral pulmonary nodules with a dominant right upper lobe nodule. On lung tissue sampling, he was found to have concurrent sarcoidosis and non-small cell lung cancer.

A unique intraluminal growth of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma: A case report.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a rare, hypervascular, benign tumor which is mainly seen among male adolescents. The tumor typically originates from the sphenopalatine fossa, but could spread through natural foramens and fissures. There are some reports of atypical growth of this tumor in literature but the intraluminal growth, which could be seen in paraganglioma and glomus tumors, has not reported yet in angiofibroma.

Elongin A associates with actively transcribed genes and modulates enhancer RNA levels with limited impact on transcription elongation rate in vivo.

Elongin A (EloA) is an essential transcription factor that stimulates the rate of RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription elongation in vitro. However, its role as a transcription factor in vivo has remained underexplored. Here we show that in mouse embryonic stem cells, EloA localizes to both thousands of Pol II transcribed genes with preference for transcription start site and promoter regions and a large number of active enhancers across the genome.
