Improved Diagnostic Yield in Recessive Intellectual Disability Utilizing Systematic Whole Exome Sequencing Data Reanalysis.

Recent advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) have positioned whole exome sequencing (WES) as an efficient first-tier method in genetic diagnosis. However, despite the diagnostic yield of 35%-50% in intellectual disability (ID) many patients still remain undiagnosed due to inherent limitations and bioinformatic short-comings. In this study, we reanalyzed WES data from 159 Iranian families showing recessively inherited ID.

Innovative cross-linked electrospun PVA/MOF nanocomposites for removal of cefixime antibiotic.

In this study, we synthesized two nanocomposites, cross-linked PVA/HKUST and PVA/ZIF-67, by integrating metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Several characterization techniques including FTIR, XRD, ICP, SEM, TGA, UV-Vis, zeta potential, and N adsorption-desorption were employed. The adsorption performance of the composites for cefixime (CFX) removal was assessed under varying conditions such as MOF content, contact time, pH, initial CFX concentration, and temperature.

Antimicrobial Effect of Formononetin Against the Periodental Pathogens Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans.

Background: Among the bioactive isoflavones identified from different plants is formononetin. Formononetin's antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer qualities have all received a lot of attention lately. The goal of the current investigation was to examine formononetin's antifungal and antibacterial activity against Candida albicans and Enterococcus faecalis in vitro, respectively.
