The angular roughshark, Oxynotus centrina (Linnaeus, 1758), is a rarely encountered deep-sea demersal shark species. It is listed as "Critically Endangered" in the IUCN's regional assessment for the Mediterranean. Like other sharks and rays, the angular roughshark is subject to by-catch in demersal trawl and longline fisheries.

A total of 185 new alien species have been added to the list since the previous update of 2011. The present compilation includes reports of an ascidian species (Rhodosoma turcicum) new to the marine fauna of Turkey and range extensions of six species.

The smallest individuals occurred on deeper bottoms (120 m), significantly more individuals were collected at night, and juvenile recruitment to the commercial fishery occurred during November and December at 40 m depth.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new microsporidian infecting the Mediterranean common stingray Dasyatis pastinaca (Linnaeus, 1758) is described from Iskenderun Bay, Turkey. The parasite invades the disc muscles, producing slender, spindle-shaped subcutaneous swellings that develop into massive, elongated, tumor-like protuberances measuring up to 11 x 4 cm. Severity of the infection may vary from light (1 or 2 small lesions) to intense, with large parts of the dorsal surface covered with lumps and protrusions.
