Background: The prevalence of non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria pulmonary disease (NTM-pd) is rising globally. Previously, we described a high prevalence of M. simiae isolation in Israel.

Complete morphologic response to gilteritinib in ALK-rearranged acute myeloid leukemia.

The cytogenetic abnormality inv(2)(p23q13) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) results in a fusion of RANBP2 with ALK. This fusion makes ALK constitutively active and acts as a driver for the proliferation of AML cell lines. Gilteritinib, a FLT3 inhibitor approved in AML, also can inhibit ALK among other receptor tyrosine kinases.

Swallowing during provision of helmet ventilation: Review and provisional multidisciplinary guidance.

Use of noninvasive ventilation provided by a helmet increased globally during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach may reduce need for intubation and its associated clinical complications in critically ill patients. Use of helmet interface minimizes virus aerosolization while enabling verbal communication, oral feeding and coughing/expectoration of secretions during its administration.

A Pharmacy-Based Observational Study of Digest-8 Dietary Supplement in a Consumer Healthcare Context.

Background: Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs), a frequent cause of gastrointestinal (GI) symptomology, impact 40%-69% of the United States population. People who suffer from FGIDs often self-manage their symptoms using consumer healthcare products such as dietary supplements.

Objective: To investigate use of Digest-8 dietary supplement by people who purchased the product from pharmacies for their FGID symptoms.

A Core Outcome Set for Research Evaluating Interventions to Enable Communication in Patients With an Artificial Airway: An International Delphi Consensus Study (Comm-COS).

Objectives: Critically ill adults requiring artificial airways experience profound communication deficits. Studies of interventions supporting communication report disparate outcomes, creating subsequent challenges in the interpretation of their effectiveness. Therefore, we aimed to develop international consensus for a communication core outcome set (Comm-COS) for future trials of communication interventions in this population.
