Lipid droplets (LDs) are the major sites of lipid and energy homeostasis. However, few LD biogenesis proteins have been identified. Using model microalga , we show that ABHD1, an α/β-hydrolase domain-containing protein, is localized to the LD surface and stimulates LD formation through two actions: one enzymatic and one structural.

Biochemical exploration of cholestasis: interpretation, traps and interferences.

We described the case of a 33-year-old patient who presented to the emergency department with non-febrile jaundice associated with epigastric pain. He suffered from acute non-severe alcoholic hepatitis and cholestasis. Biochemical investigations highlighted a huge elevation of the alpha-1-globulins fraction with an unexpected peak in the alpha-1-globulins area in serum protein electrophoresis, a severe hypercholesterolemia without xanthelasmas nor cholesterolomas.

Since its discovery as a causative gene of the Immunodeficiency with Centromeric instability and Facial anomalies syndrome, ZBTB24 has emerged as a key player in DNA methylation, immunity and development. By extensively analyzing ZBTB24 genomic functions in ICF-relevant mouse and human cellular models, we document here its multiple facets as a transcription factor, with key roles in immune response-related genes expression and also in early embryonic development. Using a constitutive Zbtb24 ICF-like mutant and an auxin-inducible degron system in mouse embryonic stem cells, we showed that ZBTB24 is recruited to centromeric satellite DNA where it is required to establish and maintain the correct DNA methylation patterns through the recruitment of DNMT3B.

Comparison of surgical management and outcomes of acute right colic and sigmoid diverticulitis: a French national retrospective cohort study.
