[Nutritional and antioxidant status of colorectal cancer patients].

Introduction: Oxidative stress is one of the risk factors of colorectal carcinogenesis. In inflammatory reactions the activated leucocytes product mutagenic and mitogenic free radicals, hereby promoting tumor formation. Obesity, hyperlipidemia and hyperinsulinemia increases the energy supply of epithelial cells, thus leads to deregulation of mitochondrial electron transport chain.

[The role of sonography in laparoscopic cholecystectomy].

Between January 1991. and December 1993. in the 3rd Surgical Department of Semmelweis Medical University 735 laparoscopic cholecystectomies were performed.

Surgical relations of Crohn's disease and the frequency of recurrence.

There is no disease that would have as many and variable complications as Crohn's disease. One of the most common complications is bowel obstruction which can be caused by the angulation of the bowel or by inflammation, or by formation of granulation tissue (32.3%).

Early complications of gastric resection.

Analyzing the patient material of 506 patients with gastric resection, authors deal with the early complication of resection, its diagnosis and treatment. They review the complications, their frequency and mortality in their own material. After operations made for tumour, complications occurred more frequently than after interventions because of ulcer.

[Pseudosarcoma of the esophagus].

Authors describe pseudosarcoma, a rare esophageal tumour in a 52-year-old male patient. The tumour of complex histological appearance has characteristic macroscopic, microscopic and clinical features. Although its histogenesis is unclear, it can be well distinguished from the real carcinosarcoma and represents an independent class of tumours.
