Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at whether giving prednisone to dogs with mast cell tumors before surgery changes the tumors' characteristics.
  • 28 dogs with tumors larger than 1 cm were randomly assigned to receive either prednisone or a fake treatment (placebo) for 7 to 14 days.
  • The results showed that while prednisone reduced the size of the tumors, it did not significantly change their grades or other important features, so it's safe to use before surgery.
