Sickle Cell Disease in the Islands of Zanzibar: Patients' Characteristics, Management, and Clinical Outcomes.

Background: This study aimed to describe Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) phenotypes, sociodemographic characteristics, healthcare, and clinical outcomes of patients with SCD attending Mnazi Mmoja Hospital (MMH) in Zanzibar.

Methods: Individuals who visited MMH between September 2021 and December 2022 and were known or suspected to have SCD were enrolled in the clinic. Sociodemographic characteristics and clinical features were documented, and laboratory tests were performed.

Prevalence and molecular characterization of Ascaridia galli in chickens from Minoufiya Governorate, Egypt.

Ascaridia galli causes weight loss, emaciation, anemia, decreased egg production, and sometimes, intestinal obstruction and death in birds, leading to economic losses in the poultry industry. This research aimed to record the occurrence of A. galli in free-range chickens at farmers' houses in three villages in Ashmoun City, Minoufiya Governorate, Egypt.

Delayed Aneurysm Rupture Following Endovascular Treatment with Contour Device: A Case Report.

Delayed rupture of intracranial aneurysms after endovascular treatment is a rare but serious complication. We report the first documented case of late aneurysmal rupture following treatment with a Contour intrasaccular device. A patient in their 60s with a basilar tip aneurysm underwent endovascular treatment using a 14-mm Contour device.

Neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (h-iPSC-Ns) provide an invaluable model for studying the physiological aspects of human neuronal development under healthy and pathological conditions. However, multiple studies have demonstrated that h-iPSC-Ns exhibit a high degree of functional and epigenetic diversity. Due to the imprecise characterization and significant variation among the currently available maturation protocols, it is essential to establish a set of criteria to standardize models and accurately characterize and define the developmental properties of human neurons derived from iPSCs.

The effect of tonsillectomy on clinical manifestations in Familial Mediterranean fever.

Purpose: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is the most prevalent genetic autoinflammatory disease worldwide. There are several novel advancements in pathophysiology, genetic testing, diagnosis, comorbidities, disease-related damage, and treatment strategies.
