High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Forecasting population responses to rapidly changing marine ecosystems requires mechanistic models integrating complex demographic processes, fitted to long time series, across large spatial scales. We used a Bayesian metapopulation model fit to colony census data and climatic covariates spanning 1900-2100 for all Northeast Atlantic colonies of an exemplar seabird, the Northern gannet (Morus bassanus) to investigate metapopulation dynamics under two climate scenarios. Fecundity varied non-linearly with near-surface air temperature and recruitment was depressed by sea surface temperature.

Individuals who work in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) programs that serve justice-involved populations face challenging conditions that can cause elevated levels of stress. Although some studies focus on stress faced by MAT professionals, few examine their coping mechanisms. This study applies the Mayo Clinic's "4A's" of stress management-accept, adapt, avoid, and alter-to better understand ways medical staff working in MAT programs manage stress.

Background: Life satisfaction, one promising health asset, is associated with reduced risk of several chronic diseases and mortality. Mental health conditions and quality of life (QoL) are important aspects of well-being in late life and are significantly associated with life satisfaction. Despite the complex interrelationships between mental health, QoL and life satisfaction, the current literature has evaluated the simple association between them and failed to consider the complex pathways among these variables, especially among the older population.

Background: Malignant bowel obstruction (MBO) is a common complication in advanced and recurrent gynecologic malignancies, with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. Self-expanding metallic stent (SEMS) insertion has emerged as an alternative palliative measure, yet data specific to gynecologic malignancies remains scarce.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 61 patients with gynecologic malignancies and malignant large bowel obstruction who underwent colorectal stenting between January 2002 and December 2023.
