Bacterial resistance, primarily stemming from misdiagnosis, misuse, and overuse of antibacterial medications in humans and animals, is a pressing issue. Objective: With altered sense of taste being a common symptom of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the main objective was to investigate the presence and distribution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) within the tongue over the course of infection.
