Evolving trends of systematic reviews on virtual reality for stroke rehabilitation.

Objective: Virtual reality (VR) therapies have increasingly been adopted across medical fields, including neurorehabilitation for stroke recovery. Evidence from several systematic reviews (SRs) was explored, covering different aspects. We aim to explore overlaps, gaps, and trends of SRs focusing on VR stroke rehabilitation providing a foundation for improving the field and addressing current limitations.

Childbirth care by health professionals: conflicting practices in obstetrics.

Objectives: to understand the perceptions of women and health professionals regarding childbirth care at a teaching hospital in the western state of Paraná, Brazil.

Methods: this qualitative study employed Grounded Theory, conducted in an obstetric care service with 38 participants (women and health professionals) through semi-structured interviews.

Results: limitations in physical infrastructure and management of care, along with the women's limited knowledge about the childbirth process and the decision-making and guidance of professionals, show conflicting obstetric practices-a discrepancy between good practices and obstetric violence.

Cross-cultural nursing care for immigrant women during pregnancy and childbirth: experiences and vulnerabilities.

Objective: To understand the experiences and vulnerabilities for cross-cultural nursing care for immigrant women during pregnancy and delivery.

Method: Exploratory, qualitative research, in the light of the Theory of Diversity and Universality of Cultural Care, in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, through interviews with eight postpartum woman and 18 nurses, between February and September 2022. The interpretation of meanings was adopted for analysis.

High times and troubled relationships: Recreational marijuana laws and intimate partner violence.

This study explores the relationship between Recreational Marijuana Laws (RMLs) and intimate partner violence (IPV). While marijuana is often considered harmless, the existing medical literature reveals both positive and negative impacts of its active ingredient on brain function. Utilizing a difference-in-difference methodology spanning 2006-2016 across 39 states, we find that RMLs produce a 20 percent increase in IPV incidents per 100,000 individuals, which appears to be mediated through mental health issues and binge drinking.

Electroencephalographic microstates as a potential neurophysiological marker differentiating bilateral from unilateral temporal lobe epilepsy.

Objective: Electroencephalographic (EEG) microstate abnormalities have been documented in different neurological disorders. We aimed to assess whether EEG microstates are altered also in patients with temporal epilepsy (TLE) and whether they show different activations in patients with unilateral TLE (UTLE) and bilateral TLE (BTLE).

Methods: Nineteen patients with UTLE, 12 with BTLE, and 15 healthy controls were enrolled.
