Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a predominant health concern globally, emphasizing the need for advanced diagnostic techniques. In our research, we present an avant-garde methodology that synergistically integrates ECG readings and retinal fundus images to facilitate the early disease tagging as well as triaging of the CVDs in the order of disease priority. Recognizing the intricate vascular network of the retina as a reflection of the cardiovascular system, alongwith the dynamic cardiac insights from ECG, we sought to provide a holistic diagnostic perspective.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that imposes significant complications, including diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). DPN is characterized by marked inflammation, and the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) is one of the new markers for systemic inflammation, it has been used in various diabetic micro- and macro-vascular complications. The present study investigates the association between FAR and nerve conduction abnormalities in T2DM patients with DPN.

Article Synopsis
  • Rabies is a deadly disease caused by Lyssavirus, primarily transmitted to humans through domestic dogs, but wildlife like jackals also play a role, as shown in a case from India.
  • RNA from a rabid jackal and a human victim was analyzed using real-time PCR and whole genome sequencing to understand the virus's characteristics.
  • Results indicated that both the jackal and human carried rabies virus from the Arctic AL1a lineage, suggesting a connection to dog strains in the region, emphasizing the need for improved rabies control measures.
