Spermatic cord sarcomas (SCS) are a group of mesenchymal tumors whose rarity and anatomical location often lead to clinical misdiagnosis such as inguinal hernia, testicular tumor, or other conditions. Any inguinoscrotal mass with suspicious characteristics should prompt clinicians to perform imaging assessments (such as ultrasound or, in uncertain cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) and refer the patient promptly to a specialized center. Histological characterization of all suspicious masses via percutaneous biopsy is recommended, with staging completed through computed tomography (CT) scan for confirmed cases.

Article Synopsis
  • Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare tumors that often require extensive surgery, leading to a high risk of local recurrence and necessitating a tailored rehabilitation protocol post-surgery.
  • The proposed rehabilitation program, influenced by clinical experiences and literature, outlines specific recovery timelines and exercises to prevent complications associated with immobility.
  • After implementing this rehabilitation protocol, a study of 31 patients showed significant improvements in their daily functioning, pain levels, and walking speed, indicating the protocol's effectiveness in enhancing patient recovery.

Introduction: Retroperitoneal sarcoma often requires comprehensive resection, leading to severe postoperative morbidity. The lack of disease-procedure specific tools for morbidity risk and the questionable accuracy of existing tools (ACS-NSQIP and P-POSSUM) in RPS surgery drove this study to assess these calculators' accuracy.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of primary RPS cases undergoing surgery at two sarcoma-referral centers was conducted.
