Modelling the seasonal impacts of a wastewater treatment plant on water quality in a Mediterranean stream using microbial indicators.

Faecal pollution modelling is a valuable tool to evaluate and improve water management strategies, especially in a context of water scarcity. The reduction dynamics of five faecal indicator organisms (E. coli, spores of sulphite-reducing clostridia, somatic coliphages, GA17 bacteriophages and a human-specific Bifidobacterium molecular marker) were assessed in an intermittent Mediterranean stream affected by a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).

Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of a fluvial environment recovery project in a medium-sized Spanish town.

Introduction: The Interdepartamental Public Health Plan of Catalonia (2014) seeks to enforce Health in All Policies (HiAP) at the regional and local levels. Within this context, the City Council of Sant Andreu de la Barca (SAB), the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (MAB), and the Public Health Agency of Catalonia started a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of an urbanistic redesign of the Llobregat fluvial area in SAB, the results of which are presented in this paper.

Methodology: In 2018, after a HIA screening, a prospective nonquantitative HIA was conducted.

Dental anomaly pattern (DAP): agenesis of mandibular second premolar, distal angulation of its antimere and delayed tooth formation.

Objective: To test the null hypotheses that children with unilateral agenesis of the mandibular second premolar (MnP2) do not show (1) greater distal angulation of the unerupted antimere and (2) delayed tooth formation compared with children without agenesis.

Materials And Methods: Panoramic radiographs of 38 patients with unilateral aplasia of MnP2 were retrospectively examined and compared to a non-agenesic control group of 82 patients. Ages ranged from 8 to 15 years.

Risk of falls in 85-year-olds is associated with functional and cognitive status: the Octabaix Study.

Falls are a source of morbidity and mortality in the oldest old. The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence of falls among community-dwelling 85-year-olds and to study the factors associated with falling. A cross-sectional study, including geriatric assessment, was conducted within the framework of the Octabaix Study.
