Primary or idiopathic intestinal pneumatosis: a rare casual endoscopic finding.

A 66-year-old male patient with no specific prior medical history consulted due to constipation without other associated symptoms. A colonoscopy was performed and multiple pseudonodular lesions were detected from the sigmoid to splenic angle in the form of air bubbles with normal-appearing mucosa and a preserved vascular pattern. Gas was released when the biopsies were being taken.

IgG4-related sclerosing mesenteritis, a rare condition that causes abdominal pain.

The identification of IgG4-related disease as a distinct immune-mediated condition encompassing disorders that were traditionally seen as idiopathic has been a revolution in the diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm in several medical fields. This condition usually involves multiple organs (isolated organ involvement is uncommon except in the pancreas) with characteristic histopathological findings. We report a case that was assessed due to abdominal pain and subsequently diagnosed with IgG4-related sclerosing mesenteritis.

Hepatic veno-occlusive disease induced by Chinese medicinal herbs.

The potential hepatotoxic effects of products containing medicinal herbs, which are increasingly used without adequate control by health authorities, is well known. We report a case of toxic hepatic veno-occlusive disease (HVOD) presumably associated with the use of such herbal remedies.

Post-transfusion hyperhemolysis syndrome following gastrointestinal bleeding secondary to prehepatic portal hypertension.

Supportive transfusion represents a basic tool in the management of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. However, the use of hemoderivatives is not exempt from risks such as development of hemolysis. We report a case of post-transfusion hyperhemolysis syndrome in a female patient with prehepatic portal hypertension.
