Treatment and desalination of unconventional water are considered important alternatives to combat water scarcity in Tunisia. This study demonstrates a viable approach to the increasing possibility of the salinity reduction of industrial effluent through adsorption. In this work, a novel alginate complex was developed for reducing the salinity of the industrial wastewater to be reinjected and reused again within the industrial process and even in agriculture.

In the SmaCuMed project, the desalination of brackish groundwater (TDS = 2.8 g/L) for the irrigation of Argan trees in Essaouira, Morocco, to 2 g/L and 1 g/L (33% and 66% salt removal, respectively) using low-pressure reverse osmosis (LPRO) ( < 6 bar) and membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) was tested at pilot scale.

Several different malignancies have been associated with bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation, but ovarian carcinoma in women and lung and pancreatic carcinoma in men are the most common. The underlying mechanism is thought to be related to a an endogenous factor wich regulates the proliferation of uveal melanocytes.
