Incidental Radiological Finding of an Intravenous Needle in a Pediatric Cervical Spine.

Cases of cervical foreign bodies are considered rare, and cases of needle that have migrated into the spinal canal are fairly uncommon. The most well-documented cases are those of acupuncture needles. We present a case of an incidental finding of an intravenous needle extending posteriorly between C7 and T1 interspinous space and ending at the level of C5-C6 interspace in a 2-year-old boy.

Schistosomiasis Involving the Central Nervous System: Case Report of a Rare Complication.

Introduction: Schistosomiasis is a parasitic infection caused by schistosome invasion of blood circulation. Neuroschistosomiasis is a severe cerebral complication that accounts for less than 2.3% of reported cases.

Thermotropic Liquid-Crystalline and Light-Emitting Properties of Bis(4-aalkoxyphenyl) Viologen Bis(triflimide) Salts.

A series of bis(4-alkoxyphenyl) viologen bis(triflimide) salts with alkoxy chains of different lengths were synthesized by the metathesis reaction of respective bis(4-alkoxyphenyl) viologen dichloride salts, which were in turn prepared from the reaction of Zincke salt with the corresponding 4-n-alkoxyanilines, with lithium triflimide in methanol. Their chemical structures were characterized by H and C nuclear magnetic resonance spectra and elemental analysis. Their thermotropic liquid-crystalline (LC) properties were examined by differential scanning calorimetry, polarizing optical microscopy, and variable temperature X-ray diffraction.

Biliary ascariasis: report of a complicated case and literature review.

Invasion of the Ascaris worm into the biliary system leads to a wide variety of clinical syndromes. Most of the descriptions of the disease have originated from the developing world, where due to the environmental factors there is a high level of parasitism. An increased incidence of biliary ascariasis borne out of population migration and increased facilities for diagnosis has led to a renewal of interest in this disease in the developed world.
