Objective: The administration of interscalene block (ISB) may lead to several hemodynamic effects, likely due to the diffusion of local anesthetic to nearby structures such as carotid sinus baroreceptors. This study aimed to compare hemodynamic and respiratory changes resulting from right and left-sided ISB.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on adults who had ultrasound-guided ISB for upper limb surgery between January 2020 and December 2021.
Introduction: Haemoglobin transfusion thresholds have been used in the intensive care unit (ICU) to guide red blood cell transfusion (RBCT) decisions. Recent research has also focused on physiological indicators of tissue oxygenation as trigger points for blood transfusion. This study aims to assess the oxygen extraction rate (OER) as a critical indicator of the oxygen delivery-consumption balance in tissues and investigate its potential as a reliable trigger for blood transfusion in ICU patients by analysing clinical outcomes.

Background: The objectives were to define the distribution of rheumatic diseases in patients with erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) ≥ 100 mm/h and to find variables that can differentiate main study groups from others.
Methods: Charts of patients admitted with ESR ≥ 100 mm/h between 2015 and 2020 were reviewed. Patients were divided into four diagnostic groups based on etiology: infection (without a rheumatic diagnosis), oncologic (without a rheumatic diagnosis), rheumatic, and no definitive diagnosis.
