Taxonomic and functional structure of macrobenthic invertebrate communities and their response to environmental variables along the subbranches of the Nile River (rayahs), Egypt.

Macrobenthic invertebrate communities serve as markers of anthropogenic stress in freshwater ecosystems. In this study, 17 sampling sites were selected from two Nile river subbranches (El-Rayah El-Behery and El-Rayah El-Nassery) and subjected to different anthropogenic influences to explore the ecological environment and characteristics of macrobenthos communities. Macrobenthos were studied using taxonomic diversity and biological trait analysis to investigate how human activity and variation in water quality affect their structure and function.

Empowering deaf and hard hearing females toward premarital counseling and genetic screening: An educational intervention based on empowerment model.

Hearing loss affects many people worldwide, and it hinders speech, language, and social development. Consanguineous marriage is the most prevalent social custom that leads to an increased prevalence of congenital anomalies. Premarital Counseling and Genetic Screening (PMSGC) educational program is urgently needed to empower deaf and hard hearing girls.

Genetic variability of myostatin and prolactin genes in popular goat breeds in Egypt.

The genetic polymorphisms of two functional genes named: myostatin () and prolactin () were investigated in three goat breeds (Barki, Damascus and Zaraibi) using Sanger nucleotide sequence and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods, in order to differentiate between these breeds. Nucleotide sequencing of 337 bp gene detected five SNPs in Barki breed, two SNPs in Damascus breed, while the Zaraibi breed did not show any SNPs. Moreover, -PCR-RFLP gave a single Genotype BB was found in all the studied breeds.

Association between single nucleotide polymorphism in ovine Calpain gene and growth performance in three Egyptian sheep breeds.

The aim of the present study was to assess the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of Calpain () gene with birth weight (BW), final weight (FW) and average daily gain (ADG) in three Egyptian sheep breeds: Barki, Rahmani and Ossimi. Blood samples were collected from 108 animals representing the three breeds. DNA was isolated using salting out procedure and then the quality and quantity of DNA extracted were measured.

[Axillo-femoral bypass using PTFE. Early and secondary results. 104 patients].

Between 1977 and 1981, 104 patients underwent 115 axillo-femoral bypass operations (AFB). All the indications were based upon limb salvage. Ninety-nine unilateral bypasses and only 8 axillo-bi-femoral procedures were performed.
