The assembly of the β-amyloid peptide Aβ into toxic oligomers plays a significant role in the neurodegeneration associated with the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Our laboratory has developed -methylation as a tool to enable X-ray crystallographic studies of oligomers formed by macrocyclic β-hairpin peptides derived from Aβ. In this investigation, we set out to determine whether α-methylation could be used as an alternative to -methylation in studying the oligomerization of a β-hairpin peptide derived from Aβ.

We aimed to assess the biocompatibility of fullerenol nanoparticles C(OH) and ectoine, and to document their effect on the protection of primary human nasal epithelial cells (HNEpCs) against the effects of interaction with the fragment of virus - spike protein. In the present study, we tested whether smooth pursuit eye movements, related to tracking a moving object, influence motion-based SRC when present on their own or when combined with position-based SRC. We examined the motion-based SRC effect during both the response selection and response execution stages.

Introduction: Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) is a cytokine of the TGFβ family. Here, we analyzed GDF15 levels in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) who participated in OCOG-ALMERA (NCT02115464), a phase II randomized clinical trial, that investigated metformin in combination with standard of care concurrent chemoradiotherapy (cCRT). OCOG-ALMERA was not able to demonstrate benefit in the metformin arm.

We conducted a secondary analysis from a randomized trial of SBRT and conventionally hypofractionated radiation (CRT) to assess these risks.
Materials And Methods: Patients (n = 233) with medically inoperable stage I NSCLC were recruited from 2014 to 2020.
