Background: Low skeletal muscle mass and poor muscle quality are associated with poor outcomes in women with breast cancer. However, gaps exist in our understanding of prognostic factors for young women (≤ 40 years), as they often have different body composition than older women. We evaluated pretreatment body composition measures in young women with breast cancer, including associations with overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).

Results of a healthcare transition learning collaborative for emerging adults with sickle cell disease: the ST3P-UP study transition quality improvement collaborative.

Background: Individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD) experience poor clinical outcomes while transitioning from paediatric to adult care. Standards for SCD transition are needed. We established a Quality Improvement (QI) Collaborative that aimed to improve the quality of care for all young adults with SCD by establishing a standardised SCD transition process.

Screening, identification, and diagnosis of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with solid tumors: A retrospective cohort study.

Background: Malnutrition is common in hospitalized patients with cancer and adversely affects clinical outcomes. We evaluated the prevalence of malnutrition risk, dietitian-identified malnutrition (DIMN), and physician-diagnosed malnutrition (PDMN) at admission.

Methods: This retrospective study included adults diagnosed with a stage I-IV solid tumor malignancy and admitted to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center from January 2016 to May 2019.

Real-World Analysis of Barriers to Timely Administration of Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell (CAR T) Therapy in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma.

The implementation of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR T) therapy in the real-world setting is hindered by logistical and financial barriers, impacting timely access to this life-saving treatment. Clinical trials have reported the time from leukapheresis to CAR T cell infusion (vein-to-vein time) but not the time from CAR T referral to infusion (decision-to-vein time). Herein, we report the barriers to CAR T therapy in a real-world setting.

Radiation therapy for cT1-2 carcinoma of the palatine tonsil diagnosed via a simple tonsillectomy: Dosimetry and patterns of care in the IMRT era.

Objective: Small carcinomas of the palatine tonsil are often diagnosed via simple tonsillectomy, a maneuver with non-therapeutic intent. Herein, practice patterns for this unique situation are evaluated.

Patients And Methods: A retrospective review was performed across 10 facilities to identify patients with cT1-2 squamous carcinomas of the tonsil diagnosed by simple tonsillectomy between 2010 and 2018.
