: Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) is a well-established therapeutic approach for maintaining sinus rhythm, though its efficacy remains suboptimal in certain patients. The left atrium (LA) volume, commonly assessed through transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), is a recognized predictor of AF recurrence after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). However, the complex three-dimensional structure of the LA makes precise measurement challenging with traditional TTE techniques.

A Study on the Safety and Efficacy of an Innovative Hydrophilic Dialysis Membrane.

The dialysis membrane based on a hydrophilic polymer (Hydrolink NV) was designed to enhance the movement of adsorbed water at the blood-membrane interface, aiming to achieve antithrombogenic and antifouling effects. This study aimed to assess the performance and albumin loss of the Hydrolink NV dialyzer in hemodialysis (HD) and post-dilution hemodiafiltration (HDF) with different infusion flows (Qis) and compare it with the hydrophilic FX CorAL dialyzer in post-dilution HDF. A prospective study was carried out in 20 patients.

Introduction: Cholemic nephropathy is an overlooked cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with advanced cirrhosis and high bilirubin plasma levels (usually above 20mg/dl), due to bilirubin and bile acid deposition in the kidneys. Those deposits have been hypothesized to cause tubular injury. It has no standardized diagnostic criteria or therapeutic strategies.
