Investigation of the status of immune checkpoint molecules (PD-L1 and PD-1) in meningiomas by immunohistochemistry.

Background/aim: Meningiomas are the most common primary brain tumors of the central nervous system. Immunotherapy is a promising treatment method applied in many types of cancer. There is no standard and effective medical treatment to reduce recurrence and mortality in cases of incomplete resection of meningiomas and in high-grade cases.

Ankaferd blood stopper: A novel additional strategy for less experienced gastroenterologists in gastrointestinal bleeding treatment.

The Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS) proves effective in managing various bleedings, particularly in surgical and dental procedures. This study assesses ABS efficacy endoscopically by less-experienced endoscopists for non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGB). Between 2016 and 2021, our hospital's Gastroenterology Department Endoscopy Unit conducted a retrospective data analysis of 653 patients who underwent endoscopy for NVUGB.

Investigation of the Effectiveness of an Algorithm as an Auxiliary Method in Intraoperative Consultations of Central Nervous System Tumors.

Objective: One of the most difficult areas in a surgical pathology practice is intraoperative consultation. In a previous study, we proposed an algorithm that provides a systematic approach to intraoperative consultation for central nervous system tumors. Our aim was to demonstrate the effectiveness of this algorithm.

Aim: To investigate the status of immune checkpoint molecules (CTLA-4 and TIM-3) in meningiomas and thus contribute to the development of new personalized treatment strategies.

Material And Methods: We utilized 402 cases of meningioma for this study. New blocks were prepared using the tissue microarray method, and sections obtained from these blocks were immunohistochemically stained with CTLA-4 and TIM-3 antibodies.

Objective and Subjective Dysphagia Assessment in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal disease that is separated into two types: ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). Although dysphagia is a well-studied and important topic in head and neck cancers and neurological disorders, research on the relationship between IBD and swallowing problems is not yet elucidated. The aim of this study was to compare swallowing function in the UC and CD using objective and patient-reported evaluation modalities.
