Melanoma cells remain resistant to chemotherapy with cisplatin (CisPt) and doxorubicin (DOX). The abnormal expression of Receptor-Interacting Protein Kinase 4 (RIPK4) in certain melanomas contributes to tumour growth through the NFκB and Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathways, which are known to regulate chemoresistance and recurrence. Despite this, the role of RIPK4 in response to chemotherapeutics in melanoma has not been reported.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common highly aggressive, primary malignant brain tumor in adults. Current experimental strategies include photodynamic therapy (PDT) and new drug delivery technologies such as nanoparticles, which could play a key role in the treatment, diagnosis, and imaging of brain tumors. The purpose of this study was to test the efficacy of PDT using AGuIX-TPP, a polysiloxane-based nanoparticle (AGuIX) that contains TPP (5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine), in biological models of glioblastoma multiforme and to investigate the vascular mechanisms of action at multiple complexity levels.

Animal tumors serve as reasonable models for human cancers. Both human and animal tumors often reveal triplet EPR signals of nitrosylhemoglobin (HbNO) as an effect of nitric oxide formation in tumor tissue, where NO is complexed by Hb. In search of factors determining the appearance of nitrosylhemoglobin (HbNO) in solid tumors, we compared the intensities of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signals of various iron-nitrosyl complexes detectable in tumor tissues, in the presence and absence of excess exogenous iron(II) and diethyldithiocarbamate (DETC).
