Nutritional modifications can potentially impact the reproductive performance and ultimately the economic results of dairy herds. The objectives were to investigate the effects of feeding a high starch (HS) diet and body condition score (BCS) at calving on reproductive responses and uterine health in Holstein dairy cows. One hundred seventy-four multiparous cows were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 experimental diets from 16 until 50 days in milk (DIM; n = 87 per group); normal starch (228 g/kg diet DM; NS) or high starch (270 g/kg diet DM; HS) diets.

Many dairy producers are keen to feed low-producing late-lactation cows only once per day (1×) to reduce production costs. This study examined effects of feeding frequency (FF: thrice versus once daily) on behavioral patterns, ruminal fermentation, and milk production performance of cows and supplementation of yellow grease oil (YO) rich in 18:2n-6 as a potential strategy to alleviate the possible negative effects of 1× daily feeding. Twenty-four late-lactation Holstein cows (215 ± 53.

Improving reproductive performance is one of the most important factors affecting the profitability of dairy herds. This study investigated the effect of feeding a high starch (HS) diet and body condition score (BCS) at calving on blood metabolites, fertility and ovarian function and milk production in Holstein dairy cows. One hundred seventy-four multiparous cows were fed common close-up and early lactation diets during the first 15 days in milk (DIM).

We aimed to assess the possible relationship between food allergy and two key adipokines - leptin and adiponectin - in children with food allergy. A total of forty patients with definite diagnosis of food allergy according to clinical history and specific IgE (sIgE) for food allergens (group I) were enrolled in this pilot study. The control group (group II) included thirty children with no evidence of allergic symptoms.
