Background: While immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapies can significantly improve outcomes for patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (RM-HNSCC), only about 15-20% benefit from such treatments. Clinical tests that guide the use of ICIs are therefore critically needed. OncoPrism-HNSCC was developed to address this need.

Soil is an important reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and understanding how corresponding environmental changes influence their emergence, evolution, and spread is crucial. The soil-dwelling bacterial genus Listeria, including L. monocytogenes, the causative agent of listeriosis, serves as a key model for establishing this understanding.

Background: Despite advances in cancer care and detection, >65% of patients with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck (HNSCC) will develop recurrent and/or metastatic disease. The prognosis for these patients is poor with a 5-year overall survival of 39%. Recent treatment advances in immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors like pembrolizumab and nivolumab, have resulted in clinical benefit in a subset of patients.

Antibacterial packaging holds promise in addressing food spoilage by inactivating bacteria, but current antimicrobial packaging solutions face challenges like depletion of antibacterials and concerns of antibiotic abuse. In response to these limitations of existing packaging materials, we developed a novel antibacterial packaging film by incorporating titanium dioxide (TiO)- tetra(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TcPP) conjugates into cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) films. Unlike conventional antimicrobial packaging, this film harnesses visible light energy to excite electrons from TcPP to TiO, generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) that inactivate bacteria without relying on antibiotics.

Diarrheal disease is a leading cause of death in children in low- and moderate-income countries. Fresh produce, including fruits and vegetables, may harbor diarrheal disease-causing bacteria including strains of Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and antibiotic resistance profiles of S.
