Twenty samples of benign pigmented neoplasms of the skin, including 9 intradermal nevi and 11 complex ones, were investigated. Fluorescence in situ hybridization was used to detect the copy number of the RREB1 (6p25), MYB (6q23), and CCND1 (11q13) genes. Analysis of the findings revealed no significant changes characteristic of melanoma in the nevi.

One approach for solving this problem using comparative genomics consists in analysis of similarities between phylogenetic profiles of proteins. In contrast to most methods, which predict only pairwise interactions between proteins, in the present work we have applied cluster analysis techniques in order to find modules of functionally related proteins.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFReview is devoted to computational prediction of functionally related proteins by comparative genomics. Growing possibilities of biotechnology for genome sequencing lead to generation of sequences for millions of genes. However, function of majority of these genes is unknown, and can be determined experimentally only for a few of them.
