pathogenicity island 1 (LIPI-1) is a genetic region containing a cluster of genes essential for virulence of the bacterial pathogen . Main virulence factors in LIPI-1 include long 5' untranslated regions (5'UTRs), among which is Rli51, a small RNA (sRNA) in the 5'UTR of the Zn-metalloprotease-coding . So far, Rli51 function and molecular mechanisms have remained obscure.

The Candidate Phyla Radiation (CPR) encompasses widespread uncultivated bacteria with reduced genomes and limited metabolic capacities. Most CPR bacteria lack the minimal set of enzymes required for peptidoglycan (PG) synthesis, leaving it unclear how these bacteria produce this essential envelope component. In this study, we analysed the distribution of d-amino acid racemases that produce the universal PG components d-glutamate (d-Glu) or d-alanine (d-Ala).

Introduction Obstetrical research confirms that earlier onset prenatal care significantly improves pregnancy and birth outcomes. Initiating care in the second trimester or having less than 50% of recommended visits has been associated with an increased risk of prematurity, stillbirth, neonatal, and infant death. Studies have shown that women on public health insurance plans initiate prenatal care substantially later into pregnancy than those on private plans.
