Purpose: Periorbital necrotizing fasciitis (NF) and sinusitis-related orbital cellulitis (OC) present with common clinical features, although the management algorithms for these ailments vary considerably. Previous investigations have failed to identify biomarkers that distinguish between these entities. This study was designed to explore the role of the derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and neutrophil-to-platelet ratios in discerning NF from OC.

Article Synopsis
  • Corrosion is a common and costly problem for metallic structures, especially in saline environments like seawater, raising safety issues.
  • Green corrosion inhibitors, which are eco-friendly and biodegradable, show promise as alternatives to traditional inhibitors but face challenges in salty conditions.
  • This review covers key aspects of corrosion inhibitors, the mechanisms behind corrosion and inhibition in NaCl, characterization techniques, theoretical models, and guidelines for selecting corrosion inhibitors to enhance research in this field.

In vitro plant cultures are able to remove and metabolise xenobiotics, making them promising tools for decontamination strategies. In this work, we evaluated Brassica napus hairy roots (HRs) to tolerate and remove high concentrations of the azo dye Naphthol Blue-Black (NBB). Experiments were performed using both growing and resting culture systems at different pHs.
