Quality of pharmaceutical care at the pharmacy counter: patients' experiences versus video observation.

Introduction: Consumer Quality Index questionnaires are used to assess quality of care from patients' experiences.

Objective: To provide insight into the agreement about quality of pharmaceutical care, measured both by a patient questionnaire and video observations.

Methods: Pharmaceutical encounters in four pharmacies were video-recorded.

Successful clozapine continuation during chemotherapy for the treatment of malignancy: a case report.

Case: The need for chemotherapy treatment in a cancer patient who uses clozapine raises a clinical dilemma because both therapies can cause agranulocytosis. A 45-year-old male diagnosed with schizophrenia used clozapine together with zuclopenthixol for more than 15 years. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was treated with chemotherapy twice, and clozapine was continued during both courses of chemotherapy.

Haemolytic disease of the newborn because of rare anti-Vel.

Routine screening for maternal immunization in a 36-year-old woman revealed an alloimmunization against the high-incidence Vel antigen during a second pregnancy. Because of the development of immunoglobulin G-type anti-Vel, the infant developed haemolytic disease of the newborn, with severe jaundice and reticulocytosis. Phototherapy was needed to reduce hyperbilirubinaemia.

Two missense mutations in the CD44 gene encode two new antigens of the Indian blood group system.

Background: Blood samples were referred over a 10-year period from five patients whose serum samples contained antibodies to unidentified high-incidence antigens. Three patients (A, B, C) were of Moroccan origin and their antibodies and red blood cells (RBCs) were mutually compatible, but incompatible with those of the other two patients (D, E), who were of Pakistani origin. The antibodies and RBCs of D and E were mutually compatible, but incompatible with those of Patients A, B, and C.
