Bassinosteroids (BRs) can induce plant defence responses and promote plant growth. In this work, we evaluated the effect of a natural (EP24) and a synthetic (BB16) brassinosteroid on strawberry (Fragaria vesca ) plants exposed to saline stress. Treated plants showed higher shoot dry weight and root growth compared to untreated control plants.

When the level of ROS surpasses the capacity of the endogenous defence mechanism, oxidative stress status is reached, leading to plant damage and a drop in crop productivity. Under oxidative stress conditions, ROS can react with polyunsaturated fatty acids to form oxidized derivatives called phytoprostanes (PhytoPs) and phytofurans (PhytoFs), which are recognized as biomarkers of oxidative damage advance.

This study aimed to determine whether virtual reality (VR) could reduce pain during robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) in burn patients by analyzing the cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the prefrontal cortex over time using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). The patients included in this study complained of a pain score ≥5 on a visual analog scale (VAS) during RAGT, which was performed 10 times for 2 weeks.

Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is a strong phenolic antioxidant with antibacterial properties composed by a caffeoyl ester of quinic acid. Although a number of benefits has been reported and related to interactions with the red blood cell membranes, details on its membrane action and how composition and membrane state may affect it, is not yet well defined. In this work, the interaction of CGA with lipid monolayers and bilayers composed by 1,2-dimiristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC); 1,2-di-O-tetradecyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (14:0 diether PC); 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and 1,2-di-O-hexadecyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (16:0 diether PC) were studied at different surface pressures (π).
