Coronary heart disease and tuberculosis: an unnoticed syndemia. Review of literature and management proposal.

Tuberculosis is an increasing disease that affects about one-third of the global population. In line with the rise of tuberculosis, cardiovascular disease has shown a similar trend, with ischemic coronary heart disease becoming the leading cause of death worldwide. Based on the literature, a relationship can be drawn between tuberculosis and ischemic coronary heart disease through their shared multiple risk factors and a possible pathophysiological substrate linking them.

Outcomes after septal myectomy in a cohort of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Unlabelled: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction that doesn't improve with pharmacological management often requires septal myectomy. However, there are few centers with experience in the practice of this procedure in our country. We describe the clinical and echocardiographic characteristics and postoperative outcomes of patients with HCM indicated for septal myectomy at a reference center in Colombia.

Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes in a patient with acute sinusitis and COVID-19 in Colombia.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, cases of acute sinusitis due to COVID-19 and even co-infections have been reported [1]. We want to discuss a case in Colombia where a patient with detected type 2 diabetes presented sinusitis and COVID-19. A 51-year-old man from Sincelejo, Sucre, consulted on May 23, 2020, with one day presenting general malaise and fever (38 °C), lumbar pain, frequent urination, polydipsia and hyperglycemia (366 mg/dl).
