Validation of the Safety and Efficacy of Apixaban as Postoperative Thromboembolism Prophylaxis for Patients with Gynecologic Malignancies.

Background: Venous thromboembolism is a preventable complication of gynecologic cancer surgery that leads to postoperative morbidity and mortality. This study compared apixaban with enoxaparin to identify whether apixaban had the same safety and efficacy for patients undergoing gynecologic cancer surgery.

Methods: The study identified patients with a gynecologic malignancy who underwent surgery and were prescribed apixaban at discharge between June 2020 and April 2023.

Ambient air pollution and consumer spending: Evidence from Spain.

Research on the economic burden of air pollution has focused primarily on its macroeconomic impact. However, as some studies have found that air pollution can lead to avoidance behavior-for example, reducing the time spent outdoors-we hypothesize that it can also influence consumer spending activity. We combine high frequency data on ozone and fine particulate pollution with daily consumer spending in brick-and-mortar retail in 129 postal codes in Spain during 2014 to estimate the association between the two.

SM08502 (cirtuvivint) is a novel pan CDC-like kinase (CLK) and Dual specificity tyrosine kinase (DYRK) inhibitor that targets mRNA splicing and is optimized for Wnt pathway inhibition. Previous evaluation of single agent CLK/DYRK inhibition (SM04690) demonstrated inhibition of tumor progression and β-catenin/TCF transcriptional activity in -mutant endometrial cancer (EC). analysis of SM08502 similarly decreases Wnt transcriptional activity and cellular proliferation while increasing cellular apoptosis.

Baseline neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and efficacy of SGLT2 inhibition with empagliflozin on cardiac remodelling.

Aims: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a marker of systemic inflammation and plays a critical role in the assessment and prognosis in patients with heart failure. The EMPA-HEART CardioLink-6 trial demonstrated that patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and coronary artery disease (CAD) treated with a sodium-glucose transport protein 2 inhibitor for 6 months experienced regression in left ventricular mass. Given this, we evaluated the relationship of baseline NLR and cardiac reverse remodelling in the entire cohort of this trial.
