Introduction And Objective: To determine the ambulatory neurological care demand in Burgos Health Area and to describe the demographic, assistance and diagnostic data following recommendations of assessment of disease morbidities and use of health systems at a regional level.
Patients And Methods: This is an observational descriptive study that prospectively recorded ambulatory demand of first neurological visits during the year 2008. Demographic, assistance and diagnostic data of the 1,341 patients that attended the neurology clinic were recorded.
Objective: To assess perioperative and long-term morbidity in patients diagnosed of carotid stenosis submitted to our Department for surgical endarterectomy.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective study of 97 endarterectomies performed by six neurosurgeons in 90 patients treated between January 1995 and December 2003. Ten patients were women.
Purpose: We studied the electro-clinical evolution of the occipital EEG discharges characteristic of partial benign epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysms. The influence of age, sex, epilepsy course and treatment on the evolution of this electrical event were analyzed.
Methods: A longitudinal retrospective study that included 30 patients who fullfilled the diagnostic criteria of benign occipital epilepsy proposed by the ILAE.
Background: Congenital myasthenic syndromes are the more frequent group of disorders involving neuromuscular transmission in childhood. They are characterized by hypotonia, weakness and periodic apneic spells, which can be life threatening. Further elucidation of the causes of these syndromes requires sophisticated technology, which is not available in all hospitals.
