Background: We investigated hospitalized carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) and extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-E) cases with and without COVID-19, as identified through Emerging Infections Program surveillance in 10 sites from 2020 to 2022.

Methods: We defined a CRE case as the first isolation of , complex, , , , or resistant to any carbapenem. We defined an ESBL-E case as the first isolation of , , or resistant to any third-generation cephalosporin and nonresistant to all carbapenems tested.

polymorphisms (G2019S/N2081D) that increase susceptibility to Parkinson's disease and Crohn's disease (CD) lead to LRRK2 kinase hyperactivity and suppress autophagy. This connection suggests that LRRK2 kinase inhibition, a therapeutic strategy being explored for Parkinson's disease, may also benefit patients with CD. Paneth cell homeostasis is tightly regulated by autophagy, and their dysfunction is a precursor to gut inflammation in CD.

Background: Early surgical management of full-thickness traumatic rotator cuff tears (RCTs) may optimize functional outcomes, prioritizing timely diagnoses. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are highly sensitive and specific modalities for RCT diagnosis, yet MRI remains the gold standard diagnostic tool despite increased costs and potential delays in care. Ultrasound can provide same-day diagnosis, thus possibly expediting care.
