Angiographic and clinical outcomes after recanalization of coronary chronic total occlusions with the Orsiro sirolimus-eluting stent compared with the resolute zotarolimus-eluting stent.

Objective: The third generation drug eluting Orsiro stent had shown already promising results in non-complex lesions.

Background: We evaluated angiographic and 24 month clinical results of the sirolimus eluting Orsiro stents (O-SES) after recanalization of coronary chronic total occlusions (CTO). Results were compared with the zotarolimus eluting Resolute Integrity (R-ZES).

Zotarolimus compared with everolimus eluting stents-angiographic and clinical results after recanalization of true coronary chronic total occlusions.

Objectives: To evaluate angiographic and clinical results of ZES compared with EES after recanalization of CTOs.

Background: ZES and EES showed similar clinical results in non-CTO lesions. Whether ZES and EES are also comparable in true CTO lesions (TIMI 0 flow, duration of occlusion of more than 3 months) with a higher risk of restenosis has not been addressed so far.

A new type of human papillomavirus associated with oral focal epithelial hyperplasia.

Lesions from 10 patients suffering from focal epithelial hyperplasia (FEH) of the oral mucosa, including those of 4 Greenlandic Eskimos, were investigated for the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA sequences by blot hybridization experiments. Two distinct HPVs were detected in the DNA extracted from these lesions, and their genomes were molecularly cloned and characterized. One of these HPVs, detected in 4 patients, was found to be identical with HPV13, whose association with FEH was already known.

In normal blood, there appears to be two similar but different subsets of T-lymphocytes present: (1) the cerebriform or convoluted Sézary-syndrome Lutzner cell, which may give rise to cutaneous T-cell lymphoma; (2) the polypetaloid or lobated acute T-cell lymphoma/leukemia (ATLL) cell, which may give rise to ATLL. Both cell types can be differentiated by their characteristic nuclear shapes.
